Memories of Home Set
Memories of Home Set
Description
After living in the city of Metro Manila for seven years, Raxenne returned to her childhood home in the province of Bulacan in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is when she first had the idea for Memories of Home.
A private person by nature, Raxenne calls Memories of Home her first published “personal” reflection. It is an examination of her work, laced with memories identifying as the girl who has always lived in a house with a garden.
The two-part book is an interactive experience. The vast topography surrounding Raxenne’s childhood home is depicted on a poster like a map; the setting for the 64-inch-long accordion zine. Leaves, flowers, and fruits her grandparents planted and laboriously tended to are vividly depicted through the accordion. It is meant to be laid out, played with, and manipulated on the map, as an invitation to examine your own mental landscapes.
Meanwhile, A Field Guide to Remembering is a companion piece, a 70-page catalog of Raxenne’s memories timestamped by her favorite marker: plants. From a visual inventory of remembered leaves to photographs of the changing sky during the world’s longest lockdown, the field guide is a peek into Raxenne’s obsession with flora and fauna.
This is the ‘Memories of Home’ 6-piece Set:

20in x 28in poster - 3 “memories”: 2 postcards, 1 sticker sheet
- 64in x 7in garden zine
