Prusisyon Ng Mga Diwata Riso Poster
Description
Prusisyon ng mga Diwata envisions the diwata—deities and nature spirits—returning to a world emptied of human presence, where the earth exists in its raw and untamed splendor. Conceived as a personal act of myth-making, the work draws from Philippine ecological and folkloric imagination: spirits shaped from native flora such as hoya and waling-waling, alongside reimagined forms of familiar species like the Palawan peacock-pheasant, Visayan deer, and the omen-bearing tigmamanukan. The santelmo is rendered here as a harimaw-like being of fire. At the end of their procession stands the balete tree, long regarded by the babaylan as a portal to the spiritual realm. Its hollow trunk marking the threshold between worlds. In Prusisyon ng mga Diwata, mythology becomes a framework for understanding the natural world and its mysteries. A kind of meditation as we march along a world that feels further from nature than ever before.
